Mountain biking in the Peak District is a fantastic way to explore this exceptionally varied national park. You can take on challenging bridleways, pedal across exposed moorland and descend into picturesque towns nestled in the folds of the hills. The Peaks have plenty of ups and downs, but if you want to bring children, you’ll have no problem finding flatter routes through vibrant valleys alongside chuckling streams.
In the High Peak region, ride from the gorgeous village of Hope up to Mam Tor, one of the park’s most iconic summits. Explore the waterside of Ladybower Reservoir or the Longdendale reservoirs, ideal for families. In the south of the national park, you’ll find beautiful dales, bridleways leading to hilltops and long-distance trails that can take you as far as you want to go. With moorland routes, paved bridle paths and forest tracks, the terrain is as fantastically mixed as the views.
